Empowering Individuals

IDC’s sector support service works towards building the capacity and strengthening community services and ultimately aims to protect and empower disadvantaged individuals (target groups such as older people, carers, CaLD people, children and families) who are experiencing disadvantage and hardship.

IDC delivers short-term projects to address prominent and emerging needs such as social isolation, financial hardship, domestic and family violence, and many more.

Community Outreach

IDC runs Community Outreach sessions independently and in collaboration with different stakeholders to alleviate poverty and disadvantage. Previous outreach sessions benefitted disadvantaged residents and families from Mt Druitt, Katoomba and Hawkesbury Hubs; First Nations families from Fairfield and Bankstown; University of Wollongong; Wentworth Housing; and several other community groups. Community outreach bags may contain any combination of essential items- for example, personal hygiene items, winter socks, towels, canned goods, soups, and biscuits.

IDC predominantly receives funding from Department of Health and Ageing and NSW Department of Communities and Justice for core services, and from Club and Council grants to deliver specific, short- term initiatives. IDC supplements and facilitates donations from other charities such as Share the Dignity and Good360, to distribute to clients who are in most need.
