Multicultural Access Program (MAP), and Multicultural Access and Referral Services (MARS) both deliver free and accessible initiatives from trauma-informed and culturally responsive approaches. They both aim to prolong older people’s independence at home and maximise their quality of lives particularly through rich and meaningful community participation.
MAP delivers My Aged Care (MAC) sessions to older people and carers, focusing on those from CaLD backgrounds.
MAP participates in community events (such as Seniors Expo and Volunteers Expo) to promote a wide range of community services for older people and carers (MAC, local seniors’ group activities, Carers Gateway, and many more).

MARS assists older people and carers from CaLD backgrounds to access and navigate the MAC system through the use of Link workers. Current bilingual and bicultural Link workers speak English, Cambodian, Lao, Spanish, Macedonian, Hindi, and Urdu. Link workers provide information and options to older people and educate them on their rights to empower with decision-making and resolve issues with providers. They may provide one-on-one and group assistance from various locations including at pop- up stalls within shopping centres.
MAP and MARS predominantly receive funding from the Department of Health and Ageing, and from Club and Council grants to deliver specific, short-term initiatives.
